The director has hatched the idea six years ago, looking for funding for five years. None of the cast has really acting experience and nor were they known to most people in Taiwan. There was no fancy commercial or interviews in any press event. The movie was launched quietly five months ago and hasnt stopped since.
Cape 7 has touched everyone's heart in Taiwan... it has blended pop music with classical symphony, mixed the dialect with poetry-like love letters, weaved in friendship between ethinic groups and nations, while all the drama and romance happened in a little town in southern Taiwan.
It''s a common belief to all ad guys, "you cannot be all things to all people"... only the very lucky few make it....
If you happen to see it on Netflex, dont forget to rent it. It's still a magnificent movie...even when things lost in translation.
